My name is Christy Walker, and I joined Paws Into Grace in January 2024. My dream of
becoming a veterinarian started at the age of 5-6 years old, when my family rescued an
orphaned kitten that needed to be hand raised. This introduced me to my calling of helping
animals.
As a native of San Diego, I obtained my undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Science Biology
with Zoology emphasis) at San Diego State University in 1998. I then completed my DVM
degree, in 2003, at the University of Missouri-Columbia, College of Veterinary Medicine.
For over 20 years I have practiced small animal medicine as a general practitioner. I have
always strived to form bonds with my patients and their pet parents. Sometimes I feel the
strongest bonds were forged in helping owners to make compassionate end of life decisions
for their beloved pets. I hope to carry this into my work with Paws Into Grace.
When I am away from work I enjoy spending time with my almost 9 year old son at his
activities, seeing plays with my husband at the Civic TheatGer or La Jolla Playhouse, and
petting and enjoying special pet time with my 3 cats and 2 rabbits.
