Dr. Paul Klaus was born and raised in the Central Florida area. He began his college career at the United States Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs where he spent his first two years of undergraduate studies while playing Division One soccer. A decision to transfer back home to attend the University of Florida eventually led to his degree in Animal Science. He was accepted into University of Florida’s College of Veterinary Medicine, and obtained his DVM degree in 2001. His veterinary career started in Denver, Colorado, where he spent almost 10 years in small animal practice, then relocated to San Diego with his young family in 2010.

His 20+ years of clinical practice have involved general medicine, surgery, dentistry, and behavior / human animal bond interest. He is a certified Fear Free practitioner, and more recently has been providing at home services for his clients and pets. Dr. Klaus now dedicates his professional career to end-of-life veterinary care, realizing the vital importance of compassion and comfort for both the pet and their family member’s during this difficult time of loss.

During his free time, Dr. Klaus found somewhere between watching soccer games with his family, surfing one of San Diego’s beautiful beaches.
